Twilight at the Tower SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2026 - Worm Moon
Celebrate a Moonlit Evening at Crooked River Lighthouse
Join us at the Crooked River Lighthouse for Twilight at the Tower on Sunday, March 1 from 4:00-7:00 pm with after-hours museum tours, gift shop browsing, tower climbs and a glowing bonfire under the beautiful rising moon. Plus, guests will be treated to a plein air painting demonstration by an Ambassador of the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air, Cheryl Ploestra, watercolorist. This special after-hours event invites visitors to enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as the golden sun sets below the horizon, and the evening sky darkens. Twilight at the Tower admission is $10 for the general public and includes a twilight climb, free for current members and free for kids 12 and under.
Cheryl Ploegstra is a local watercolor artist, primarily working en plein air. Cheryl organizes a weekly plein air painting group and teaches watercolor classes. She has been involved with the Forgotten Coast en Plein Air event for the past ten years, including as a Florida’s Finest Ambassador artist, residency artist and past board member and event chair. Cheryl’s work is often exhibited at The Joe Center for the Arts in Port St. Joe.
The Keeper’s House Museum will be open for after-hours tours featuring the lighthouse’s original Fresnel lens constructed in 1894 in Paris, France. The lighthouse gift shop will offer a variety of unique nautical gifts and souvenirs, and the Beacon Bistro will have delicious baked goodies, popcorn, hot chocolate, and s’more kits available by donation. A glowing bonfire will create a perfect atmosphere for folks to kick back, relax and enjoy the evening. As the sky shifts from watercolor hues to deep evening blues, visitors are welcome to bring a chair and unwind on the lighthouse grounds.
Visitors seeking an unforgettable experience can enjoy twilight tower climbs to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast. From the top, climbers will be treated to panoramic views of St. George Sound, Carrabelle Beach and the beautiful colors of the evening sky. Evening climbs are scheduled at 15-minute intervals and climbers must be at least 44 inches tall.Admission and climb reservations are available in the gift shop or by clicking the ticket image below

Celebrate a Moonlit Evening at Crooked River Lighthouse
Join us at the Crooked River Lighthouse for Twilight at the Tower on Thursday, April 2 from 7:00-10:00 pm ET with after-hours museum tours, gift shop browsing, tower climbs and a glowing bonfire under the beautiful rising moon. Plus guests will enjoy a participative experience called a Sound Bath, a guided relaxation experience using calming, continuous sounds to relax the body and mind. This special after-hours event invites visitors to enjoy the gorgeous natural surroundings of St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach as the golden sun sets below the horizon, and the evening sky darkens. Twilight at the Tower admission is $10 for the general public and includes a twilight climb, free for current members and free for kids 12 and under.
A sound bath explores the powerful vibrations of harmonic tones as a source of healing. This unique, meditative session will be presented by The Gong Experience gongliers (gong players) Sahadev and Kasimira. The gong, an ancient instrument, when properly played resonates pure sound that can reach deep emotional places in a powerful and primal way. Guests are welcome to bring a chair and sit, watch, listen, feel and experience this meditative event.Sahadev (Steve Brazier) and Kasimira Vogel are musicians and yogis who have devotedly studied gong techniques. They have made it their personal mission to share this special gift of healing with as many people as they can. Kasimira, Reiki Master and Meditation instructor, adds elements of Native flute and vocal sounds while infusing Reiki into the gongs for added healing.

ABOUT MOONLIT EVENING EVENTS

Enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound and Carrabelle Beach under the glow of the rising moon. Take an after-hours tour of the Keeper’s House Museum and visit the exhibit for the lighthouse’s original, historic Fresnel lens. Browse inside the Lighthouse Gift Shop for unique nautical gifts and souvenirs.  Chill by the glowing bonfire in the park (weather permitting). Bring a chair and enjoy the evening with us.

At the Moonlit Evening events, evening climbs are also available for those brave souls who are bold enough to venture to the top of the tallest Forgotten Coast lighthouse. Climbers will be rewarded with breathtaking views of the bay.  All climbers must be at least 44 inches tall. There will be a time limit for viewing from the top. Tickets are required for those who wish to climb the lighthouse tower during this event. Tickets are available by dropping by our gift shop or online. Advance purchase is strongly suggested as slots may sell out.

Guests who would like a more leisurely climbing experience are welcome to enjoy one of the daytime climbs available every Wednesday through Sunday.
