Lighthouse Climb with Views of a Rare Blue October Moon!

Saturday, October 31, from 7-10 pm

Visitors can enjoy this opportunity to see the gorgeous natural surroundings of the St. George Sound, Carrabelle Beach, and Dog Island, under the night sky at this special Crooked River Lighthouse evening climb.

A Blue Moon is called that when there are two full moons in one month, not because the moon will appear blue to the eye. A Halloween full moon hasn’t appeared in the Eastern time zone since 1944, according to Farmers's; Almanac. This safe, family-friendly Halloween event will be held at Crooked River Lighthouse Park. Visitors can climb to the top of the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast, Crooked River Lighthouse, to see breathtaking views of the bay. Enjoy hot chocolate or s'mores at our firepit.  Kent's Smokin Sausage food truck will be on site from 6-9 pm.

There will be candy on the Keeper’s House porch and a sampling of lanterns from Lantern Fest will be hung in celebration. Children and families are encouraged to drop by in their most adorable, creative or spooky costumes. The museum and gift shop will also be open for guests’ enjoyment.

Guests are also welcome to climb to the tallest lighthouse on the Forgotten Coast to see beautiful views of St. George Sound under the night sky.  For this special evening, climbs for children are free and adults are $5. (Children must be supervised by an adult. All climbers must be 44 inches or taller. Climbs are available weather permitting.)

Social distancing guidelines will apply. Masks are encouraged for those attending. Guests are encouraged to use hand sanitizer and wash hands frequently.
